Marvin Cole
Tenor Saxophone
Marvin started playing the alto saxophone at the age of ten when he joined his elementary school’s music program.
By the time he reached high school, Marvin also began playing the tenor and baritone saxophones.
After high school, Marvin auditioned for, and was accepted into, the Army Jazz Band. After traveling to various parts of the world over a ten year period, Marvin relocated back to New Jersey. However, while in the military, Marvin got the opportunity to play with many different bands, playing many types of music.
At that point, Marvin began playing with many of the area’s top saxophonists, including Billy Harper, Willie Williams, Larry McKenna, and Bootsie Barnes.
Marvin feels strongly that music “is more than just playing your horn; it provides opportunities to learn about life.”
